Designalicious Jewelry & Craft

total chaos

Total chaos

Okay, so, on most blogs you get to view photos of people's pretty workspaces and studios. Everything is organized and looks like a place you'd want to be. I'm always envious of those peaceful looking spaces. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I'm getting ready for a jewelry show or working on a craft project, it's pretty much total chaos at my house. Things are in piles, beads are rolling under the couch, I can't find anything, my cat is eating all my wire, and so on. It's sort of liberating showing you my mess, and also sort of like showing you my weeks worth of dirty laundry spilling out of my closet, which I definitely wont do. Promise.

well hello, new bedding

Mynewbedding

I've been in the market for some new bedding for a very long time. I'd look, but I couldn't commit to anything. Until today! I've been waiting to see what the new Amy Butler designs would look like and I am crazy for the "Coventry" collection, plus it's 100% organic. If I have any extra time this weekend I'm going to run to Bed Bath and Beyond and see if I can pull together something as pretty as these images above. Minus the apples. UPDATE: The Amy Butler Collection isn't being carried in stores you have to order online. I found out the hard way, but made my way home and placed my order. I can't wait for it to get here!

my new issue arrived!

Newissue01
Newissue03

It's an exciting day when I open the mailbox and find a new issue of Real Living Magazine. The August issue didn't disappoint. There is a beautiful story on "Modern Rustic" home decor. Beautiful all-white but casual interiors. I always love their shopping pages, I just wish I lived in Australia and could actually buy some of the stuff, although I'm sure some of it can be found online. But the best part of the new issue is ...

obsession: vintage glass bottles

Glassbottles1

I can't get enough of pretty images of vintage glass bottles lately. It's got me thinking wouldn't it make a pretty display of some kind? I'd love to put an antique collection of them on a white mantle above my all white fireplace, only I don't have a mantle above my fireplace and it isn't white. What about a small grouping on the nightstand in the guest bedroom? Oops, no guest bedroom either, unless someone wants to sleep next to my computer, sewing machine, and jewelry making supplies.

Glassbottles2

Who am i kidding? I really don't need to start another collection, so I'll just look at pretty pictures of them instead.

drip drop

Dropdrop

I'm super busy getting ready for the Renegade Craft fair in San Francisco on July 18th and 19th. I'm afraid my blog has been neglected, so sorry. Here is a little round-up of artwork for you featuring my favorite shape these days, the teardrop, and it's showing up everywhere. If it was the rainy season I would have to have these adorable boots! Alright, back to work I go making jewelry and planning my booth design. . .

in the news today

Foodinpaper

Ah, yummy fried goodness. I love the presentation of food when served in paper. Wax paper, parchment paper, any kind of paper, even newspaper. It reminds me of summers eating lobster and fried clams off a newspaper covered picnic table on Cape Cod. These photos were taken by Con Poulos Photography. I see their beautiful photography in one of my favorite food magazines, Donna Hay, all the time. Lovely.

london calling

AnkeWeckmann

I simply adore this illustrator from London, her name is Anke Weckmann. She likes "pink flowers, small birds, white cats, paper dresses, and making all kinds of pretty things." Anke has done work for Adorn, (one of my favorite magazines that is sadly no longer around) plus Poketo, the Guardian, and many more. I couldn't even decide which of her adorable drawings featured on her web site to show you. She also has an etsy shop. I'm heading there now to bookmark a bunch of my favorites!

Maybe because it's the wedding of Wren Handmade (she makes really sweet crochet accessories). Maybe I love it because of that amazing butterfly bouquet, or her vintage wedding dress, or the fact that they rode away on bicycles. Whatever it is, it's the sweetest thing and I had to share. You can see even more of it in the new issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. (images from her lovely blog)
